Mercury has gone direct, hallelujah!
Who else went through some serious challenges last week?
I personally experienced a major stressor and my nervous system has been through the wringer! I feel so exhausted now and am still moving through bodily sensations like tight chest, fatigue and tight shoulders.
I don't feel in integrity to post about it, but I will use the experience as growth and a way to step more firmly in my power and re-set my boundaries.
The relationship between the mind and emotions fascinate me and so through the past few days I've been allowing my body to process the array of emotions that it has felt.
It's said that an emotion doesn't just happen, it's something that we do.
It can be immediate and personal.
I've asked clinical psychologist @mindfulanax, "Does the emotion stem from the thought?" (Head to my insta videos to watch our ‘Guided By Emotions’ podcast interview).
It is yet to be proven, however the emotion will always be a response to something in your environment. The sensation provides us with information.
I have a great ritual practice that you can begin today. Here is a useful process to find out if an emotion is being caused from a thought or an interaction.
EVENING PRACTICE:
Sit in a quiet space with gentle music playing
Allow your mind to go over each hour of the day and review what happened - who you spoke to, how much computer time you had, what you ate, etc.
Write down if that brought up any emotions or feelings inside of you
Go one step further and write down why you felt that way
MORNING PRACTICE:
Wake up and before you do anything else (ok maybe go pee)
Sit up, close your eyes and listen
Let your ear drums dance to what ever it hears
After 5-10 minutes of listening
Grab your journal and write down what thoughts you heard, as many as you can remember
Quite quickly you will realise that the thoughts you have woken up with may have effected your mood, and you haven't even got out of bed.
You can then differentiate the two journal entries. This will help you understand how you are being effected by thoughts and by interactions.
Do this for 3-5 days straight and eventually you may come to realise a pattern and behaviour that you have that causes a particular response in your feeling body.
This is a good basic practice to begin if you want to create a difference in the way you feel.
The first step to any change, is awareness.
