Samhain – Halloween is coming!
Sunday 31 October is a date celebrated with by Celts, also known as Samhain (sow-in), it marks the end of summer and the beginning of the dark cold nights ahead.
The Celts believed that on the eve of Samhain, the veil between the dead and the living was at its thinnest and the ghosts of the dead returned to the earth.
They would leave candles on their front door steps and set a place at the table for their passed loved ones to return.
I was lucky enough to experience this traditional Celtic festival when I lived in Edinburgh Scotland back in 2007. Where the locals built large bonfires and performances were carried out, reproducing the sacrifices (faux of course) to the Gods, wearing costumes like animal heads and skins.
I personally see this time around halloween to celebrate the dark. There is no coincidence that we celebrate Samhain in Scorpio season.
It’s time to celebrate your shadows and your ghosts within.
