Winter Solstice (Yule)

Next week we celebrate Yule, the Winter Solstice. The solstice always marks the longest night of the year, and we get to celebrate the returning sun, more light and longer days ahead.

The exact time of the solstice is Thursday 22 June 12:57am, as the Earth continues to turn on its axis and begins the change into longer days.

Traditionally a giant Yule log would be placed on the fire and family would gather round, stoking the fire all night long, drinking to the new.

RITUAL SUGGESTION

Decorate a giant log of wood, use it as a centre piece as you feast and drink with family and friends before placing it in the fire. Say goodbye to the old, and welcome the new.

Enjoy the smiles on faces as you honour the suns return to the earth and life begins once more.
